Dean W. McCabe

SELBYVILLE — Dean W. McCabe, 78, of Selbyville died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Berlin Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Berlin. He was born in Selbyville and 
was a son of the late Chester and Ida (Hudson) McCabe. Dean and his wife owned 
and operated the former Shoe Mart in Selbyville. He was a member of the 
Selbyville Elks, Selbyville American Legion, Showell United Methodist Church, 
honorary member of the Showell Volunteer Fire Company, and was a shriner and a 
mason of Delaware Lodge 37 in Dagsboro. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Fay McCabe of Selbyville; a daughter, Bertha Taylor 
and her husband, Ted, of Willards; a brother, Layton W. McCabe and his wife, 
Grace, of Millsboro; a sister, Betty Jean Long and her husband, David, of Ocean 
View; a grandson, Robert F. Baker III; and two great-grandsons, Chase Baker and 
Bryce Baker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sara Mitchell.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in 
Selbyville, with the Rev. Dean Perdue officiating. Friends may call an hour 
before the service. Burial will be in Bishopville Cemetery.
