The Daily Times (Salisbury MD) December 1, 2010 Hazel M. Pepper [ 1918-2010] 92, of Selbyville died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at her home. Born in Selbyville, she was the daughter of the late Hillary and Della (McCabe) Holland. She was a life member of Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville, where she chaired the church luncheons for many years. Other church activities included the Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Friendship Circle. She was also a member of the Selbyville Community Club, the Sussex County Republican Women's Club and the Tuesday Bridge Group. Mrs. Pepper's first love was her family. She also enjoyed playing cards and entertaining family and friends. She was known for her generous spirit toward sick friends, who she always remembered with homemade soup and her frozen peaches. Knitting was another hobby; she used to contribute more than 300 hand knit newborn baby caps to Milford Hospital. As each grandchild and great-grandchild arrived, each received a hand knit sweater, booties and caps. During the past 3 1/2 years she has had many Angels looking after her; this caring group of ladies consisted of Raven, Ronda, Tandra, Denise, Cierra, Tjasha, Christine, Joyce,Petrie, Paula, Irma Jean, Paula, Alberta, Lorna and was headed by Angel Stratton. She is survived by two sons, William C. Pepper and his wife, Nancy Jo, and Howard C. "Pep" Pepper and his wife, Cheryl, both of Selbyville; a daughter, Beverly P. Steen and her husband, Marvin, of Ocean Pines; a stepson-in-law, William Bunting of Millsboro; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Pepper; her sister, Agnes A. Holland; a stepdaughter, Delores P. Bunting; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Pearce and Gunter Steen. A funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Hastings Funeral Home in Selbyville, where friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall will officiate. Burial will be in Redmen's Cemetery in Selbyville.
