Nina, You are giving Jean Ellen a run for the money. I knew the name Ollie Morris but could not connect it to anything--yes, of course the Stone Bar! I have exchanged some info on the Longs with Carl Schultz, retired, Tampa. Would he be Norman's father, brother? Was from Frankford I think.

This is what I have on Everett Long. I do not have a Charles who would be his contemporary.
Everett Sr. (of Eber of Elisha of Zeno of Benjamin) m Mary Andrew,  had Paul, Donald (d 1945 in WW2), Rachel and Everett Jr. m Helen Morris (of Ollie Booth Morris & Laura Lovey Long (of Josh, of Zeno P of Elisha of Zeno of Benjamin) Josh was the brother of Nina Lou's gr grandmother.
Everett d 2005 and Helen had Barbara Jean and Everett III "Sonny". Nina do you know when Helen d.?
It would seem to be Everett Jr. who operated the airport. I do not know if he was in WW2 with his bro Donald.

Dear Carl,

This is Charlotte and Chuck and I are so happy to hear from you. Chuck does not use the computer but has dictated a letter for me to send to you. I will put together for you and Bill his family history from his mother forward to our grandchildren.

I have not seen Chuck this interested in family history until now. He is delighted to hear from you. Last year we were at his class reunion in Dagsboro at Duane and Howard Lynch's house. He asked Howard if he knew where you were, but Howard did not know.

There is very little known to us about the Long family. I somethings that we do know now are rattling around mixed with names and places that we have just not been able to connect the dots.

I assume you know Bernard died, April 22, 1966, suicide (facts are facts, no matter how much it hurts). I will forward his children's information along to you also.

Do you remember Earl Godwin from Georgetown, worked for the telephone company. He remembers you. Earl married my mother's sister Elsie. She has passed on, but Earl is still in Georgetown. He come out to see us about two years ago, drove all the way across the USA.

Chuck says he did not know Zeno P. (his grandfather) and Sylvester (Wes) Jr were brothers. Do you know if there were more brothers. Chuck said as far as he knew his grandfather was an only child. No one ever said why he called Wes "Uncle". Carl, was Wes and Maude Long that lived on the corner from Chuck's house, your grandparents. This is part of the history that is fuzzy in our book.

At first, to answer your question about George Bunting Chuck had this reply. Then we read the census you sent and he is not sure if it is the same George Bunting or not. But here goes, as he remembers it. George "Pat" Bunting lived between us (your house and his) and he was a brother to John Bunting, Fayette's father. They lived behind Chuck's house. Chuck thinks he was also a brother to Raymond Bunting and some of his children were: Raymond, Hilda (in your class?) Lewis, and he thinks more. He says he thinks George Bunting had two wives, and that there are six children of his buried in the Dagsboro cemetery.

Did you know Stanley Layfied had passed away (some time ago)? Is he related in anyway.

Carl, our geneology was prepared by Gay Viau, she is our best friend and her husband. Gay put my maiden name on a chat room one day when she was recovering from a bad cold. AND my second cousin just happened to be there and gave us a mother lode of info on the Ellwangers. That got it started. Gay said her source of info for the Longs come from the Sound Methodist Church in Delaware. She has Stanley listed in the relatives, but does not show the connection.

Chuck spent 5 years in the Navy and transferred to the Air Force for 15 more years, retiring here in Cheyenne with 20 yrs military service in June 74. Then he worked another 20 years for civil service on the Air Force base here in Cheyenne. He retired in Dec1995 and I went on terminal leave in Jan 1996 retiring on my birthday in Mar 1996. I had 28 1/2 yrs in civil service, my last 16 yrs was with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations as an Investigative Assistant. When Chuck was in the Navy he worked on a ship as an electrician. In the Air Force he was in Power Production, and civil service as automotive specialist.

We have two sons, Charles Michael Long, March 21, 1955. He lives in Aurora, CO about a two hour drive from here. He is married to Karin Ellison (second marriage). His first wife was Bong Suk Lee (Korean). They had one daughter, Leslie Ann Long, born Nov 20th, 1979, in Arapahoe County, Aurora, CO.  She lives in New Orleans, LA. Our youngest son, Bruce Wayne Long, March 26 1958, lives in Broomfield, CO. The boys are east and west of Denver in surrounding towns. It is good to have them so close, even if it is two hours away. Bruce is married to Martha Jane (Janie) Tedrow. They have two sons, Sean Alexander Long, Jan 13th, 1988  in Larimer County (Ft Collins, CO). Alec Stephen Long, born Feb 27, 1990, Denver, CO.I don't know how much more detailed you want this, I have birth dates of their wives and their places of birth etc.

Bernard Harry Long was born Nov 24, 1939 in Sussex County, Del and died Apr 23, 1996 in Susses County, De. He married Margaret Preston in Belfast Northern Ireland. They had Kathleen Linda Long, born Apr 10, 1973, in Salisbury, MD. David Preston Long, born Sep 11, 1975 in Salisbury Md.

Do you know what Zeno P. Long's middle name was, Chuck's grandfather? Do you know what his occupation was. We know almost nothing about his grandfather.

Any information you can give us will always be deeply appreciated.

Thank you for contacting us. We want to keep in touch.

Chuck and Charlotte

Bill Long

Marjorie,
I've been trying to contact Carl Schulz.  He lives in Plant City, FL.  My emails and phone calls to him are not getting thru.   I've been going thru old emails trying to see who might know where he is.  Below is one such old (2003) email - I also trying to contact this "Chuck"  do you know him?  Do you have these Longs in your Family Tree Maker records?

Dear Carl,
This is Charlotte and Chuck and I are so happy to hear from you.

So glad you found him. I have been working on the Zeno P.Longs to try and find the Chuck (Charles and Charlotte Long) whose grandfather was supposed to have been Zeno P. Can you ask Carl about where Chuck fits in the LONG line? There were 3 Zeno P.s. b 1835, 1865 and 1879. The one 1865 with the bro Sylvester is in your line from John T. of Joe.
I have him with one son Harry Bunting Long b1904 unmarried in 1930 census but a couple of trees show him m later.

Nina Lou,
My greatgrandfather Sylvester B. Long had a daughter Sallie that married Wallace M. Lynch.
Wallace and Sallie had issue: Howard, Norman, Cortland, Thelma, Brenda, Lenuel and Mabry.
Is "Duane" part of this line?

Marjorie, do you have a photo of the deed for Murrays Addition 12 May 1802, or can you provide a full transcription? It would be a lot of help unscrambling some of the descrepancies in the various deeds.
Also, there is a difference in descriptions of Bush. The 1755 deed to James Murray Sr gives 22 acres, but in the resurvey for Murrays Addition in 1776 it has 43 acres. (Bush is surrounded by other Murray property). Those brothers must have been doing a lot of swapping.
Thanks, Ken

No relation to me. I grew up in Georgetown. My father, Raymond Burton Marvel was son of Charles S. Marvel. There are numerous Raymond Marvel in Sussex County. most trace back to common relative in early 1800s.

Marjorie, don't worry about my asking for a photocopy of Murray 1802. I think I have it figured out by referring to Murrays Addition 1776. Thanks, Ken

Subject: Updated Map
Any of you that are interested, I have replaced the Sandy Branch Community c1810-1815 map with an updated version. After studying the USGS elevation/contour maps I have concluded that the millpond flooded much more of Polly Branch than I thought earlier. And using the same source I believe I have made a good guess as to the locations of Pig Pen Swamp/Branch and Puncheon Swamp/Branch. I've also been studying the deed surveys more and as a result have rearranged some properties on the map as well as adding a couple more. I'll keep at it and hope you will make suggestions.

Subject: Map again
Check out a couple of changes I've made to the map I posted a week ago, thanks to Marjorie's keen eye for detail. I've correctly labeled John Howard Long as the heir to Collins Lot, and added a fairly precise diagram showing the lot called the Long Lot sold out of Buntins Desire to include the sawmill and its rights.

Subject: Re: Map again
Ken, good work. A few tweaks are needed:
1.change the name of "Long Bros.Lot" to "Long's mill" (no caps for mill as I have not seen a name for it.); it was owned by Isaiah, cousin of the other 2 owners, bros.Joseph and Zeno Long.
2.Add after Bunting's Desire, "aka Bunting's Lot" as that was the name used in the deed to the Longs, although the name was really Bunting's Desire as you have placed on the map.
3.Remove the phrase "other properties of Benj. Long" as to date there is no evidence that he owned anything other than Collins Lot and Jinney's Addition.
4.Add after Betsy (w/o Paul Howard).

Point of information: Benjamin's son was John Jordan, not John Howard. Joe Long bought John J's portion of Collins Lot when John went west and Joe's sons Joshua P and John T inherited both Joe's and John J's portions in 1857.

Now, Can you add "Long Lott" 30A, owned by Arthur McCabe and sold to his son Isaac prior to his 1847 LWT in which he stated it was adj. to Arthur's farm (home)which was "on Sandy Branch" near Salem Meeting House. (Long Lott was a long shape, not owned by LONGS and was, in my general sense of where what was, south of the mill.) In 1847 Arthur bequeathed his farm to son Garrison who in 1857 bequeathed to his sons John D., Amos, and William S.(store owner near the mill(probably on now Main St., owned land around the now stoplight at Main St./Church St. where his son William R. built the Selbyville National Bank abt 1900).

Subject: Re: Map again
1.  I think I meant to type Long boys.  Probably should be labeled "Sawmill sold to I, J & Z Long".
2.  The 3 Long boys didn't buy Buntins Desire.  What they bought was the sawmill (called Buntins                  Old Mill in the deed)  and a few acres that would have been necessary for its operation.  The                  remaining 49 acres of Buntins Desire were divided and sold separately.  Eventually I hope to outline all      the properties so as to give a clearer idea of their dimensions.
3.  My purpose is to get around the peculiarity that if only Collins Lot and Jinneys Addition are considered,      then Betsey received 77 acres but the other 6 surviving children got just 25 acres apiece.
These two named tracts can hardly be the ones described as "on both sides of the county road" in           the B Long LWT.  They weren't even near it, unless a person were to say, for example, that                      Dupont Blvd is near Main St.  I anticipate quite a  few properties without names,  as well as                       people without properties, as the map develops.
4.  Probably should be labeled Betsey (Long ) Howard.

Re: Point of information:  Thanks for pointing out my error for John's name.  Correction forthwith.

Re: Long Lot of Arthur McCabe: Good.  Now that I have seen a description of it I'll be able to place it
      on the map.

Re:  Adding "Now Main Street".  Good idea, especially for readers not all that familiar with Selbyville.

Subject: new McCabe book
"Celtic Warrior Descendants: A Genetic and Cultural History of a Rural American Family" by Ebe Chandler McCabe Jr., a descendant of John McCabe(of Vern McCabe's book), lived in Frankford as a child and writes of some memories from there.
Nina Lou, he tells of a visit he remembers of Franklin and his brother Norman Bunting with Mr.George Washington Murray who scared the bejesus out of Norman by popping out his false teeth. (Your Franklin's dad, I think.)
Book gives his ancestry, the Mccabes starting with John and includes some information on DNA and the McCabe DNA Project. Of great interest to me was that he and Vern have a common ancestor within the past 2-300 yrs with an Elisha Mecabe (also spelled Mccabe) b1799 in NJ and are distinctly different from the other McCabes tested. [I am researching an Edward McCabe(Irish immigrant) who supposedly married in NY a Lydia Winter b1709 of Obedias; they supposedly had a son Matthew b1735 (NY 1808 will) and they may have settled in NJ.]

Group: SelbyvilleHistoryAndGenealogy Message: 842 From: Gail Date: 5/18/2011
Subject: New member, and apologies
Hi all, I am Gail Jenis, and first off, I want to apologize for bombarding you with notification notices this morning. I used the wrong format and they weren't able to be read. Marjorie kindly straightened me out, and I hope to do better in the future. I did manage to do three obits (almost) correctly.

I am hunting for Lynches, and I have no real expectations of finding them on here yet, as so far it seems they never left Mispillion/
Nanticoke/Greenwood. But I'm attempting to move further back, and they had to come from somewhere! I'm sure I'm at least two or three generations from Ireland, yet.

My great-great grandfather was David Lynch, b abt 1819 and d 17 Feb 1886, both in Grenwood. He married Ann Marine in 1840 and they had eight children. David had a brother, Williams D. Lynch, b abt 1805 in Greenwood, died about 1882 in Nanticoke and married Ann Owens. Williams and Ann had seven children. There was a third brother named John W. Lynch. I imagine he was born either prior to or between 1805 and 1819, and I would presume also in or about Greenwood. I do not know who were the parents of Williams, David or John, or where they were from.

I do know that David and Ann Marine Lynch's wedding documents were signed (X) by a Noah Lynch, but I don't know how he fits in. Also I have a probate settlement for Williams D. Lynch and the neighbors who purchased the goods sold included Adams, Brown, Carey, Carlisle, Clarkson, Cordray, Coverdale, Dawson, Dickerson, Donovan, Elliott, Fowler, Greenly, Griffith, Hall, Hays, Issacs, Jackson, Johnson, Law,LeGates, Lofland, McDowell, McIlvaine, Macklin, Matthews, Melson, Messick, Morris, Nichols, Owens, Perkins, Pettijohn, Rickards, Sampson, Scott, Sharp, Short, Smith, Stayton, Stewart, Suliman, Truitt, Tucker, Verdin, Walls, Watson, Webb and Willey, as well as some Lynches, including a John W. Lynch who was Williams D.'s son.
I know that many of these names are present in this area, and I thought that they might lead me to a Lynch connection.

I will be happy to share anything I might have regarding any of your Lynches. I have quite a collection which may or may not help. And, I would appreciate anything at all anyone here could offer, not just about Lynches, but many of the names listed above on the probate records.

Thanks for "listening" and I'm looking forward to learning a lot, if not for my genealogy, then for the history!
